The Legends

Legends climb with you

Great pilgrims who once reached for the heart, failed, and were caught by Brimir so thoroughly that they cannot even die. They can climb no further themselves, so they lend you their strength and go at the heart by proxy.
Each of them wants something from the heart.

Ragnar

The Mortal Pilgrim

Ragnar

A viking pilgrim with an axe: shield, one-hand axe, wolfskin cloak, blue war paint. He climbs Brimir on growth, heavy strikes and sheer stubbornness. Unlike the legends, he can die — which is exactly why he is qualified to reach the heart.

Die and you are forgotten. He climbs anyway.

Mortality is the key

The legends cannot finish anything because they cannot die, and so the heart stays out of reach. Only those who can die can finish; only those who can finish are qualified. The pilgrim dies and is forgotten — but the legends remember, and carry it to the next one.

— Who you bring, and who you unlock, is that story.
